Caring for seriously ill children can present special challenges for chaplains. This session will explore the unique aspects of spiritual care for children facing serious illness, as well as suggested interventions to support patients and their families. This session will also discuss the impact of this sacred work on chaplains and other health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

As a result of this educational opportunity, participants will:
1.    Understand spiritual concerns for children with life-threatening conditions
2.    Identify the psychological, social and spiritual impact of the death of a child on bereaved parents
3.    Be equipped with recommended spiritual care interventions to support children and families
