  • Orlando, FL

This three-day advanced workshop will focus on palliating pain in clinical settings, starting with day on acute and procedural pain in which education, diversion, and dissociative techniques are rapidly taught and employed. We will focus on simple and rapid techniques with sequentially applied rescue techniques.

This session will discuss important aspects of assessment prior to deployment of rapid interventions, which will be taught through didactic presentation, live and video demonstration, and small group practice sessions. We will also discuss the relevance of setting, with examples of suggestions meant to positively influence health care providers and/or family.

This session will employ multiple small group practice sessions and script-writing practice. Multiple audio-video clips from our ebook will demonstrate such techniques and reinforce important learning points, and opportunities for rapid scripting practice sessions will provide opportunities to apply these skills. This session will also address spiritual and existential distress, and will demonstrate language to guide such exploration and intervention.   We will build skills in sequential fashion, reinforcing prior learning and techniques,  and will provide a framework to address symptoms and meaning-based suffering simultaneously through crafted suggestion.
